Your alarm buzzes at 7 a.m. You don’t even hit snooze. There is only one reason for being this lively. It’s Draft Day.

You have been waiting for this all year. Countless days spent at the computer, hundreds of hours watching film. You have studied every strategy, every cheat sheet, every informational article available to you. You know the statistics of every player on every team across the NFL. Even the Chicago Bears.

For school, you wouldn’t dare crack open a textbook to study. But for football? If there is a book, you’ll read it; if there is a video, you’ll watch it; if there is a podcast, you’ll listen to it. For the draft, you will do anything.

Now it’s time to get ready. You put on your freshly ironed outfit, accessorizing with only the finest brands: Rolex, Gucci, Versace. For homecoming, you might put in some effort, but for the draft, it’s all out. You haven’t looked this nice since last season. You know what they say: “Look good, feel good, draft good.”

The time has come: 8:00 p.m. on the dot. You arrive to the draft room filled with a sense of anticipation. Cell phones are silenced, the board is wiped clean, the order is drawn. Dozens of mock drafts have prepared you for this moment, the single most important moment of your life. It’s time to build your fantasy team.
