Katherine King: 1st Team All-State
December 5, 2022
Fallston’s very own Katherine King was awarded 1st Team All-State for her outstanding 2022 soccer performance. King – number 10 – had a phenomenal season with 21 goals and 14 assists, including a hat trick in the Cougars’ state championship win.
Katherine has been playing since she was four years old, playing travel until fifth grade, and club ever since. “Katherine is one of the hardest workers I know,” teammate Hayden Mills says. “The time and effort she spent perfecting her game shows and I couldn’t think of any other person who would be more fitting for the award.”
Katherine has served as a captain and role model for her team this year. Teammate Ava Lambros says, “Katherine is someone I have always looked up to on the field and is such an amazing player.” The admiration shows as anyone on the team will tell you that no one deserves this honor more than Katherine.
Making 1st Team All-State was King’s goal this season. “It makes me feel pretty accomplished because it was my biggest goal this season and I thought I wasn’t going to be able to attain it,” King says. She managed to prove herself wrong, winning her second state championship and achieving a career-high for goals this season.
Katherine will be taking her talents to Bridgewater College next fall. King hopes that next season she can earn the ODAC (Old Dominion Athletic Conference) Freshman of the Year but joked that she just hopes to “get through fitness tests for fall.”
The Fallston community knows that Katherine will continue to do great things and is proud of everything she has accomplished.
