Julianna’s judgement: January hot takes

Most Chocolates and pizzas are gross 

Hear me out; I’ve tried so many different versions of both pizza and chocolates. But none of them are good. I would never go to the candy aisle and pick out a chocolate nor would I go to a restaurant and choose pizza. Only in the direst of situations, where it is the only thing to eat, will I eat either of them. Pizza is literally just tomato sauce and cheese (+ maybe some topping). There are so many better options of things to make with those ingredients. And chocolate is just overrated. Like its simply not that good. 

The best thing about Nike is its shoes, Under Armour does the rest better 

There is no brand other than Nike that I have tried and would choose for an everyday sneaker. I first tried Nike sneakers in the third grade and haven’t turned back. I still wear them today and every day. Track spikes? Also Nike, I refuse to race in anything different. Nike just does it best except when it comes to something that isn’t a shoe. My Uniform is from UA and so is all of my sportswear including shorts, shirts, and socks. 

Math is enjoyable within the constraints of other subjects 

Don’t get me wrong on this everyone: math is probably my least favorite course and certainly the one I struggle with the most. But I’m not talking about math class. Doing mathematics in other classes is where it’s at. Math in science is so much better. Physics is super math heavy, but I LOVE it, the joy I get from understanding physics isn’t abundant but when it comes around it’s like no other. Even in writing, I like it, I often choose to use statistics. Math for math’s sake isn’t fun, but in other contexts it’s more enjoyable.  

Qdoba over Chipotle 

Chipotle is more expensive and for what? Qdoba, on the other hand, offers more for a lower price. Guac and queso are free. I always get served more of everything at Qdoba, and I spend less. In addition to more for less, Qdoba has better flavors and seasoning. Their queso diablo is some of the best I’ve ever had.  

Reading is the best hobby 

I read 54 books in 2022 and most of them I read for leisure. You don’t just have to physically read a book; you could also choose to listen to them. With that opportunity, you could ‘read’ a book on the go wherever you are.  Reading is also one hobby that you gain knowledge from and thus better yourself as an individual. I believe if you don’t like books, you truly just haven’t found your niche. There is a book for everyone because there is an endless number of genres and millions of different authors. 

Pets are Overrated  

Fish are so incredibly boring and have short life spans. I couldn’t have cats because I’m allergic, but I wouldn’t want one anyway because they’re mischievous. I, myself, have two dogs (I lost a family vote) but my experiences with animals aren’t the reason I think they’re overrated. Show me a cute photo you saw on Instagram of a pet, and I won’t really bat an eye. I don’t find them that cute and appealing. They’re more work than they’re worth. They don’t bring me comfort and joy. Why get an animal when all they’re going to do is lay around all day and cry until you give them something they want? I just don’t have an affinity for animals in general, and I wouldn’t make the decision to get one for myself. If you really need something to snuggle with, buy a stuffed animal.
