Have you ever wondered about your future when you leave Fallston? Have you ever thought about how what you learn in school will help you in the future? We reached out to former Fallston journalism students to see what lessons they have taken from being in The Print and where they ended up.

Garrett Ross, a 2013 Fallston graduate, was the editor-in-chief of The Print during his time at Fallston, an early experience that set him on the long path to a career in journalism at Politico. “The work we did back then was so fun and invigorating,” he stated. “I knew ever since then that was what I wanted to do in the long run, and so I made it my mission.”

During his time at Penn State University, he served as the editor-in-chief on The Daily Collegian, which helped him prepare for his current role as a “Playbook producer and Playbook PM co-author” at Politico. “What started as an elective choice turned into a real love for everything about it,” he said.

When asked what his favorite memory of being on The Print is, he recalled, “Just the times that I spent in that tiny little corner office with the friends that I made, some of whom I still talk to regularly even now.”

A present staff reporter, junior Addy Rebasti, explains how “journalism class is the best part of her day because of the environment, friends, and of course Ms. Price.” It seems like the feeling is mutual. “It was always such a fun time and such a bright spot in the day,” Ross said.

Throughout the 2022-2023 school year, The Print has undergone some serious changes: We transitioned to a website. “I loved working on The Print, and I’m so glad to know that it’s still going strong,” he says.

Throughout his three years as a journalism student, it is no surprise that he took a lot away from the class.I think one of the biggest things I took from my time on The Print was just the importance of trying new things and learning as much as you can with every opportunity,” he said.

The lesson of trying new things is something that, not only Ms. Price pushes on all her students, but something that is required in the journalistic field. Ross stated how he thinks it’s so important to “never stop trying to learn and using those experience to improve your work and your life.”
