You can buy yourself flowers.

Is Miley Cyrus’ new song “Flowers” directly slamming her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth?

This photo may be old, but I bet she bought those flowers too.

Warning: This is a piece of speculation only. Miley Cyrus fans, read on.

Whether it was through her lead role in Hannah Montana or her hit song “Wrecking Ball” being on constant replay, Miley Cyrus has been a part of many people’s childhoods. After dropping her hit album Plastic Hearts in 2020, she is back with another exciting announcement: Her brand-new album Endless Summer Vacation will be dropping on March 10, 2023.

However, a single off the album, “Flowers,” already dropped on January 13 – which just so happens to be her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth’s birthday. This is causing some serious speculation, but we’ll get to that.

Just one day after its release, “Flowers” reached 2.459 million streams and became her first song to ever make the tops of the US Spotify chart, UK Spotify chart, US Apple Music, and became the tenth song in history to earn 15 million daily streams on more on the global Spotify chart. Additionally, the music video has more than 60 million views just a week after it dropped.

And with those 60 million views, fans are starting to pick up on some heavy parallelism. But in order to get all of the speculations straight, we have to start at the beginning.

On December 23, 2018, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth got married in Tennessee. At the wedding, Hemsworth supposedly dedicated “If I Was Your Man” by Bruno Mars to the bride. But even though the couple looked happy enough on their big night, the announcement of their separation came only a short year later.

Following their separation, rumors started circulating about Hemsworth’s possible unfaithfulness. According to the internet, Hemsworth allegedly cheated on Cyrus with 14 women, using her house in Los Angeles to do so.

This all would seem irrelevant if it weren’t for that heavy parallelism mentioned earlier. Upon listening to Cyrus’ hit single, fans began noticing some matching lyrics between “Flowers” and “If I was Your Man.” Here are a few examples:

“Flowers” by Miley Cyrus: “I can buy myself flowers… and I can hold my own hand.”

“If I Was Your Man” by Bruno Mars: “I should have bought you flowers and held your hand.”

“Flowers” by Miley Cyrus: “Talk to myself for hours, say things you don’t understand.”

“If I Was Your Man” by Bruno Mars: “Should have gave you all my hours when I had the chance.”

“Flowers” by Miley Cyrus: “I can take myself dancing.”

“If I Was Your Man” by Bruno Mars: “Take you to every party cause all you wanted to do was dance.”

However, that’s not where the similarities stop. The house that Cyrus filmed her music video in? You guessed it: the same house that Hemsworth allegedly cheated on her in. And the suit she is featured in at the end? Supposedly the same suit the Hemsworth wore to their wedding.

These are a few examples of the similarities in the lyrics and the music video. Similarities that are almost too similar to be a coincidence. But nonetheless, coincidence or not, Cyrus has produced a masterpiece and the rest of the album is sure to be nothing short of such.
