Mrs. Zengel (Assistant Principal)
How long have you been in education?
Mrs. Zengel has been in education for 30 years, starting in Cecil County where she began her career as a PE and health science teacher. Ten years ago, she moved to Harford County and became an assistant principal. Since her move she has been the AP at Patterson Mill, Aberdeen, and now, FHS.
Fun Facts about Mrs. Zengel?
She says, “I worked with Mr. Milanoski before at Patterson Mill.” Lucky for us, the duo is back together again! She goes on to add, “I also love the beach, reading, and decorating!”
Frau Montero (German Levels 2, 3, 4, and AP)
How long have you been in education?
Frau Montero has taught a total of eight years, but this is her first year teaching German and her first year at FHS. She used to be a special educator at Harford Tech. She asked to be transferred when the opportunity presented itself.
What’s your impression of Fallston been so far?
Frau Montero says, “Everybody has been very welcoming so far. The kids are nice, friendly, and seem eager to learn.”
What’s interesting about Frau Montero?
“We moved to the states in my twenties the first time and then we moved back to Germany then back to the states,” says Frau Montero. The frequent traveler goes on to say, “My husband was in the military, so we moved back and forth quite a bit. My husband’s originally from Panama so we both have English as our second language.”
Ms. Scott (Anatomy and Physiology and Biology)
How long have you been in education?
This is Ms. Scott’s fourth year teaching. She taught two years of high school and one year of middle school. She says, “I’ve always wanted to teach anatomy because [I have not had the chance] to teach that in her career yet.”
What’s your impression of Fallston been so far?
Ms. Scott has had a good impression of Fallston so far. She says, “The science department has been very welcoming” and goes on to say how impressed she is with FHS students as she has found them to be “focused, well mannered, and academically minded.”
What’s interesting about Ms. Scott
After previously considering a variety of health care careers, Ms. Scott tried working in pharmacies, but then she “realized [she had] a calling to teaching and it was time to stop fighting it!”
Mrs. Beser (Instructional Coach)
What is your role and how long have you been involved in schools?
New to Fallston this year, but not new to the world of education, Mrs. Beser is an instructional coach. In short, she is here at the school to “help support teachers who are new to HCPS.” This is her 22nd year in education, having previously worked at Magnolia Middle School and Joppatowne High School, as well as seven other schools in Harford County.
What’s interesting about Mrs. Beser?
This past summer Mrs. Beser helped volunteers in Folly Beach hatch loggerhead Sea Turtles, and she loves to be out on the water of the Chesapeake Bay with her family and friends on their boat.
Mr. Lang (Tech)
What do you teach and how long have you been in education?
Mr. Lang teaches tech design here at Fallston and this is his 14th year teaching, having come from Baltimore City College in Baltimore. He lives in Fallston and has always wanted to be a part of the community, so now he is able to do that.
What has your impression of Fallston been?
Mr. Lang said, “Everyone [has been] overly friendly and really nice. It’s like night and day, kind of, from what I am used to, teaching-wise… the kids are really respectful too.”.
Anything interesting to add?
Mr. Lang spent a week in Ocean City, MD, with his family and joked, “If anyone needs a job, let me know,” in reference to his food truck: Love Crust Pizza.
Mr. Frank Simon (Inclusion Helper)
What is your role here at FHS?
Mr. Simon is an inclusion helper, “which entails working as a teacher’s assistant in a couple of sections of Ms. Caro’s life skills class, the COA classes and working with the group,” Mr. Simon explained. He also follows around specific students to ensure that they’re “accommodated for.”
What has your impression of Fallston been so far?
“Fallston has been a welcoming environment,” he said. “I mean the quality of the education here is great.” He also really enjoys working with the people here, describing his coworkers as “kind” or “supportive” and the student body as “wonderful” to be around.
What’s interesting about Mr. Simon?
“Not entirely fluent in all, but I can speak 5 languages,” he said. “Those being English, French, Spanish, German, and Japanese.” He even attended a French camp in Canada, where they spoke French nearly the entire time.
