The Osterhase came early this year for German Club members at their meeting on Wednesday. Students participated in Easter activities that resulted in many pieces of candy and other little prizes.
Senior German NHS members stuffed eggs earlier in the day filled with treats like Hershey’s Kisses, Twizzlers, Jolly Ranchers, and Starburst as well as toys like sticky hands and rubber poppers. Then, they put on their bunny ears and hid the eggs all around the first floor. Eggs were found in corners of doors, in doorways, on top of fire alarms, and even hidden in Mr. McLeod’s plants in the main hallway.
While the Easter bunnies were out and about, other members were in the room creating little bags to hold their eggs. Many decorated with drawings of bunnies, eggs, or carrots, and added touches of Easter-themed ribbon here and there.
As soon as Frau Montero got the okay from the hiders, the seekers were off, looking for as many eggs as they could find. They were also allowed to find one duck-shaped egg each, filled with the same goodies as the other eggs, but also a slip of paper telling the finder to bring it to Frau Montero for a special prize. The prize was your choice of a full-sized candy bar, and members were very grateful for the gift.
The senior members of NHS and Frau Montero deserve many thanks for putting this meeting together. It was lots of fun and really put club members in a springtime mood!
