Fallston Women’s Soccer welcomed Our Lady of Mount Carmel into the Cougar Den Thursday, October 17th, for both the conclusion of their regular season and a celebration of the team’s seniors. The team said goodbye to six seniors as they walked with their families while their accolades were announced to fans pre-game. The seniors Addison Rees, Olivia Rotella, Hayden Mills, Ella Litz, Sarah Farally and Madi Cox enjoyed successful careers at Fallston, including state championships in 2021 and 2022.
Once they finished with senior night celebrations and got the game started, they began an offensive domination of Mount Carmel, initiated by an early goal from Bridgewater soccer commit, Sarah Farally. The Cougars finished the first half scoring four goals and shutting out Mount Carmel. After getting off to such a strong start, Fallston was able to substitute and get in many different players, not only a rewarding move for all players but varying who was on the field contributed to keeping the opposing Cougars on their toes and helped Fallston continue to dominate offensively.
After half-time, Fallston picked up right where they left off, scoring another four goals and completing the perfect day as all seniors scored. Decisive defense continued to keep Mount Carmel off the scoreboard, leading to a final score of 8-0. The big win meant a lot to the departing seniors. “For the past four years, we have watched senior night together just waiting for our turn. It was a surreal tournament and to be able to experience that with my best friends made it even better,” captain and recent Stevenson commit Ella Litz said.
Following the game, Fallston and Mount Carmel walked in the typical “good game” lines, but the teams took the positive sportsmanship a step further as they hugged, swapped jerseys, and even had an impromptu dance contest. It was a big win for Fallston and a great way to end the regular season with plenty of celebration. The pre and post-game festivity was the cherry on top of a perfect send-off for the class of 2025. “The night couldn’t have ended any better, we had such a good time after the game talking, dancing and doing jersey swaps,” Litz added. Sarah Farally went on to say that “the girls from Mount Carmel were amazing and so fun to play against as both teams were really cheering for each other. That will probably be a moment I never forget.”
But the celebration didn’t end there, after the conclusion of their regular season, the Cougs began their playoff run against North Harford this past Wednesday and pulled away with a 5-0 win. They now advance to the second round as they take on C. Milton Wright tomorrow on the road in quest for a state championship to send off their beloved senior class.
