As the volleyball season is ending, the girls’ volleyball team prepares for their seniors’ departure from the team. Obviously, the seniors couldn’t leave without a proper goodbye and had their senior night ceremony take place Tuesday, October 22nd.
After the Junior Varsity team’s slim loss to Bohemia Manor, the Seniors took the court – but not to play. Instead, to be recognized as the amazing players they are. Emma Nigro and Sam Ruth were both escorted by their parents, while Jadin Woods and Kay Lindhorst were escorted by their parents and sisters as they passed their fellow teammates to receive a gift from Coach Kraft. These girls also made sure to include the seniors on Bohemia Manor’s team by gifting each one a rose.
After the ceremony, the Cougars prepared for their game against Bohemia Manor. It was a tough match, points going back and forth between the teams throughout the game. In the front row, Jadin Woods put up a wall and scored 4 blocks and 2 aces. Behind her, Emma Nigro held down the back row with 7 digs across the match. However, you can’t win a game without offense: Sam Ruth had an incredible 12 assists, 5 of which went to Kay Lindhorst.
Although the ladies weren’t able to pull off a win against Bohemia Manor, the energy in the gym remained electric throughout their performance. Afterwards, despite the loss, the girls remained excited for the future and stuck around to pose for photos with their fellow teammates. We wish these girls the best in their future beyond FHS, even if volleyball isn’t something they decide to continue, they are truly amazing players.
