On November 20th, The Union held its first official meeting in Ms. Richies’s room. Club officers include Logan Taylor, Jade Mashua, Mark Gyampoh, Italy Caldwell, Landyn Foster, and Zoe Rogers.
The meeting started off with a presentation by Jade Mashua about the purpose of the club. “The Union is about diversity and inclusion and making sure that everyone feels seen, heard, and valued,” she says. “We want to address the ignorance and problems going on in Fallston and make sure it’s a safe environment for everyone.” Jade added that the group is also currently working on planning possible field trips, discussion ideas, and fundraisers for future meetings.
After the brief presentation, members introduced themselves by their name, grade, and favorite artist while they enjoyed pizza, snacks, and a variety of drinks.
The next Union meeting will take place soon, and if you haven’t attended, it’s never too late to join. Club officers are looking for new officers for any interested applicants. “We want to make sure that the club does stand year after year for everybody,” Jade explains. “To actually make a change for the school, you have to have people get involved.” If you are interested, you can join the Remind by using the code fhsunion1 or visit the Instagram page @fhstheunion.
