Last week, Samantha Tagliaferro, Brynn Seymour, Liam Delaney, and Logan Weiss competed in the multiday FBLA State Leadership Conference at the Baltimore Hilton Inner Harbor. The conference kicked off on Thursday with a General Session and wrapped up Saturday morning with the Awards of Excellence breakfast banquet.
The atmosphere of the conference blew the students’ expectations away. “The hotel that it took place in was much larger and nicer than what I previously expected. The people there were much more formal and professional than I expected. Really just the scale and gravity of everything was a lot more than what I thought it would be,” said Liam Delaney.
The Fallston delegation competed amongst 1,400 students from 75 schools across Maryland: Liam Delaney competed in Financial Math, Brynn Seymour competed in Economics, Samantha Tagliaferro competed in the Insurance & Risk Management, and Logan Weiss competed in Agribusiness. Logan and Samantha’s 2nd and 3rd place finishes in their categories have qualified them to compete in the 2025 FBLA National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California, this summer.
Not only did the conference host competitions, but they also offered workshops on interviewing strategies, networking, FBLA chapter building, college essay writing, and state officer elections. In their free time, students spend time with peers in the leadership lounge.
When looking at the competition and the volume of students from other schools, Brynn Seymour has hopes of “making FBLA a bigger club in our school and encouraging more students to move on to states.” While four students represented our school, other schools had upwards of 150 students there.
Liam hopes to qualify again for 2026, saying he wishes to “be more open for networking next year as it’s a great opportunity to connect with people across the state who may have similar interests or connections. “
Congrats to Brynn, Liam, Samantha, and Logan!
