Prior to spring break, around 25 members of the Science National Honor Society took a field trip to Susquehanna State Park, located in Havre de Grace. Though the weather wasn’t in perfect condition, SNHS students were determined to stick it out through the rain.
The hike began alongside the Susquehanna River before crossing a bridge that overlooks the river. The hike was led by none other than Mr. McLeod and advisor of SHNS, Mrs. C. Cummings. Due to the senior crown day assembly held at the high school, this field trip consisted only of juniors.

On the hike, there was no short of Virginia Blue Bells blooming across the woods; these vibrant flowers are most prominent during the months of March and April in Maryland. During the hike we also passed by a number of historical buildings like the kiln pictured below.
This hike was another opportunity for members of the SNHS to get in their required hours of science activities to maintain membership in the society. In the fall, many students participated in the hike to Rocks State Park, and there will be another opportunity to earn these hours at Mutter Museum coming up in the beginning of May.
After walking roughly 4.6 miles in cold and wet weather, the bus made a well-needed stop to Chick – Fil – A for lunch. Joei Cruz Ferrera & Camdyn Bailey described the hike as “rainy and very long but what pushed [them] through was Chick – Fil – A.” The stop at CFA before heading back to the school was a highlight of the trip for many people, but overall, I think everyone had a wonderful time.
