As the 2025–2026 school year begins, Fallston’s mock trial team is louder than ever. With fresh faces, returning veterans, and a renewed sense of purpose, the team is gearing up for a season filled with courtroom drama, strategic thinking, and fierce competition with schools all around Harford and Baltimore County.
Mrs. King, the advisor for Mock Trial, recalled last season’s run, stating, “It was the best season Fallston, or any Harford County team, has ever had.” And Mrs. King would be completely right. Fallston made it all the way to the semifinals last year, beating every other Harford County team. Not only did they dominate the county, but they also triumphed over their rivals, Aberdeen High School.
This year, the team is setting its sights even higher. With the new case not yet released, veterans from last year are already meeting to strategize and prepare training sessions for the incoming members. Mrs. King expressed her excitement for the new additions to the team: “Mock trial is not just for kids who want to be lawyers. It’s for kids willing and wanting to express themselves in a different way than they ever have been shown.”
Mock trial is more than just a club; it’s a simulation of real courtroom proceedings where students take on roles as attorneys and witnesses to argue fictional cases. Each competition challenges teams to present opening statements, conduct direct and cross examinations, and deliver compelling closing arguments. Judges score based on legal accuracy, presentation, and teamwork.
Sadly, the team lost some key members last year, including President Ella Schmidt and standout witness Mark Zaranski. These are big hits, but Mrs. King and the rest of the team remain confident that their determination will carry them even farther this season.
This season promises growth, grit, and maybe even a shot at the state championship. One thing’s for sure: The courtroom is calling, and this team is ready to answer.
