For two years, fans of Harry Styles and Florence Pugh patiently awaited the psychological thriller Don’t Worry Darling to hit theatres. The movie is rated R and follows Jack (Styles) and Alice (Pugh) through their life living in the perfect utopian society of Victory. Alice appears happy in the beginning, leading an ordinary and domestic life: The husbands go off to work every day while the wives stay at home to cook, clean, and socialize amongst their friends. Perfect right?

However, after Alice watches her best friend (Kiki Layne) spiral into madness, she quickly follows, finding out that the ’picture-perfect’ world she lives in may not be as perfect as she thought. However, now that the movie is here, people seem to be disappointed. Though the movie has made nearly $30 million dollars in just a week of being out, critics have given it a 38% on Rotten Tomatoes. Additionally, the movie only earned a 6.3/10 on IMBD.

Having an amazing cast – Florence Pugh, Harry Styles, Nick Kroll, Chris Pine, Gemma Chan, and Olivia Wilde – the world had been expecting another movie-of-the-year but were unfortunately sorely mistaken. Top critic Meagen Navarro from Rotten Tomatoes saw the movie and explained how it was “a dazzling affair while it lasted, but mostly forgettable.” However, on the other hand, another top critic, Charlotte O’Sullivan, stated that director Olivia Wilde is a “misunderstood genius and her sly, erotic thriller is one of the best films of the year.” All in all, movie-goers seem to be divided on whether Don’t Worry Darling really is deserving of criticism or applause, so go buy a ticket and find out for yourself.
