When it comes to being seniors, we have a lot of responsibilities. We have classes to attend, homework to do, clubs to run, and most importantly, playlists to make. The top priority right now is creating a playlist that will encapsulate every emotion this year will bring us. Everyone’s playlists will obviously be different, but here are the 10 songs we think should go on everyone’s playlist for their senior year.

“The Spins” by Mac Miller

“The Spins” is a must-have on any playlist, especially for your senior year. The vibes in this song are high and it never fails to elevate my mood. It’s upbeat, it’s joyful, it’s the type of song that makes you want to hang out with your friends for the rest of your life, and it’s the perfect song for your senior playlist.

“Five more minutes” by Scotty McCreery

This song is about the phases of growing up, whether it’s reflecting on those memories of playing outside in elementary school, your first love and playing your last high school sports game. It really captures the feeling of just wishing we had more time.

“Slipping Through My Fingers” by ABBA

This song is a message from parents to us.  It reminisces about those little moments that seemed so insignificant, but they wish they held on to a little longer. This song is a reminder of how fast the years have gone for not only us, but for our parents too.

“Young Dumb & Broke” by Khalid

I’m not sure about the rest of you, but young, dumb, and broke feel like pretty good adjectives to describe seniors in high school. This song is about living life without regrets or overthinking, saying that despite the fact that we are just broke kids, we can still offer love and a good time to the people around us, which I think is a good mindset for seniors to have this year.

“You’re Gonna Go Far” by Noah Kahan

This is perfect for the seniors who are choosing to leave home for college. For many of us this is our first time leaving our parents and guardians. This song is a message from our loved ones as we go out and discover ourselves as “adults” for the first time.

“7 Summers” by Morgan Wallen

“7 Summers,” by Morgan Wallen, is a song about reflecting on the past, which I think we have all found ourselves doing lately. We think about how our friends and our personalities have changed in the past seven summers when we listen to this song. This song is a perfect mix of nostalgia and hope – two things we hope seniors are feeling this year.

“Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac

“Landslide” is an emotional ballad about all of life’s twists and turns, and as seniors approach one of the greatest milestones of life, they need to be listening to this song. Whether you’re afraid of change or have accepted its inevitability, this song is a great one to listen to and think about how much you’ve grown and changed in your life.

“I’ll Always Remember You” by Hannah Montana (Miley Cyrus)

This song has become a staple for senior playlists. It talks about getting ready to move on from high school and opening a new chapter in our lives, but it also hints at the bitter sweetness of leaving all these fond memories behind.

“Springsteen” by Eric Church

“Springsteen” is about having that song that brings you back to the good memories of high school. A song that reminds you of those late nights surrounded by your best friends and driving around in your first car. I think this is something many of us can relate to, too.

“Never Grow Up” by Taylor Swift

The re-release of “Never Grow Up” has the class of 2024 thinking back to when life was simpler. Before the stress of college decisions and jobs and money, there was just a little kid thinking about silly little things, like “what it sounded like when [their] dad gets home,” and “all [their] little brother’s favorite songs.” This song highlights the naivety of our younger selves and reminds us not to grow up too fast, because even though we have wanted to be big kids our whole lives, sometimes we should miss just being a kid.
