Welcome back, FHS! Since school was let out for summer back in June, the students of Fallston have had many adventures. Many went to the beach, visited family, and chilled at home most often, but some had a very exciting break. Many of the activities seemed to fall into four main categories: concerts, amusement park trips, travelling to foreign countries, and working all summer long.
Concerts
Addy Rebasti had the opportunity to see each of her top three artists, (Taylor Swift, Noah Kahan, and Zach Bryan) in a span of 2 weeks. It was a very exciting time for her, and she actually saw Taylor Swift twice! Once in Philadelphia and once in East Rutherford.
Madison Tran attended a music festival called Bittersweet Daze with two of her cousins. They saw Grentperez, mxmtoon, Ricky Montgomery, and Cavetown. “My arms hurt from holding up my phone the whole time because I needed to record every second. I ran out of storage halfway through though,” Madison said.
Amusement Parks
Christine Smith, Avery Adams, and Lawrence Acevedo had their fair share of fun at amusement parks around the country. Christine traveled to Florida, and while there, visited two of its most iconic parks: Disney World and Universal Studios. Christine adds that her favorite ride at Universal Studios was the VelociCoaster.
Avery also got to go to the “happiest place on Earth.” While in Disney World, Avery determined that “[his] favorite ride was [the] Haunted Mansion.”
Lawrence went somewhere a little closer, traveling to Hershey Park over the summer with his parents and younger sister. His day at Hershey was very exciting, as he went to both the waterpark and theme park sides of Hershey.
Foreign Countries
Due to his participation in the band, Jonas Mendoza had the opportunity to go on a trip to Europe. “We went to five countries: Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and France,” Jonas explained. While there, Jonas and others on the trip played music for the locals. “They really like art, music, painting, and all that stuff over there. It’s more respected than it is here,” he said.
Arianna Hernandez went on a trip where she spent half of her time in Cancun, and half of her time in Mexico City. While in Mexico City, Arianna and her family ran a 5k. “It was really fun,” and shockingly, “It actually wasn’t that hot,” she said. Her family also visited all the places they used to frequent when they lived in that area. For the second half of her trip, Arianna stayed at an all-inclusive resort in Cancun. “I went to the little bakery, and the person in front of me ordered like three macaroons. I ordered 30,” she said. “I ate them all day and then the next day I couldn’t eat anything because I was so full.”
Work
Ryan Schafer worked a very eventful summer at Pablo’s Bowls in Ocean City. “People are mean. Some guy screamed at me over a lid,” said Ryan. “The man was very enthusiastic about the state of our wildlife saying that the plastic lid was not ‘saving the turtles.’”
Addy Rebasti saved a child from drowning at her job as a lifeguard, working at The Fallston Club. “She started drowning and I jumped in and got her,” Addy explained. “She didn’t realize she couldn’t swim, and her water shoe fell off.” Madi Hoyer and Jonas Mendoza spent the majority of their summer with Addy at the Fallston Club watching over patrons, providing First Aid, and keeping kids safe.
Though the summer was full of fun and excitement, this school year will create many memories that Fallston students will cherish forever. Football games, Homecoming, The Variety show, prom, and many more activities make this school year one to look forward to. Until next summer!
