Getting nominated for homecoming court is quite an honor, and this year at Fallston, ten lucky seniors have been nominated to be the potential “Fan Favorite” at our upcoming homecoming dance. This group of five girls and five boys were voted on by their peers who have sat side by side with them since elementary school and are thought to be the most popular or impactful people in the grade.
Many students look forward to this dance every year, and especially voting on who they think is the “fan favorite.”
Starting off with senior class vice president, Abby Richard, she said she is “very flattered and excited to be a part of the homecoming celebration.” When Abby’s not busy helping out with class council, she can be seen on the soccer field playing for our women’s varsity soccer team. While there are many things to look forward to at homecoming, Abby is most excited about “taking pictures and hanging out for one last time with a lot of [her] best friends.” Abby has very little confidence in herself winning, but states “obviously King Nate [is going to win].” She can be spotted in a pink dress and nude heels at the homecoming dance.
Max Rueckert is next on our list of nominees. Not only will Max be on the field at halftime getting announced as part of court at our homecoming game, but he will also be seen sporting number 5 on our varsity football team. When Max first heard the announcement of court, he was very excited, and “grateful that people think [he is] a good candidate.” While it would be “really awesome to win,” he says, “Abby will probably end up [as fan favorite].” Many people may be skeptical about having their parents chaperone homecoming, but Max thinks “it’s something they’d like to be a part of,” so he thinks “it’s awesome.” Just for homecoming, Max got a new suit to make sure he’s looking spiffy, and he’ll be wearing one of his dad’s ties.
You might notice Max matching with our next nominee, Leah Rhinehart, at homecoming. Leah is also a member of our women’s soccer team. While sharing that she was thrilled about the nomination, Leah said she is “super excited to walk with the rest of the [court] at the football game and get to wear the sash.” Similar to Abby, Leah is lacking confidence in herself winning “fan favorite” and thinks “Nate Decker or Abby Richard for sure [will win].” Catch Leah in a periwinkle dress and gold heels at the dance.
Lots of our fan favorite nominees play a fall sport, and this one is no different. Joey Bolesta is a member of our golf team and is even headed off to states with a few other teammates. Joey was originally surprised when he got nominated, but after concluding that it was rigged, that shock was soon taken back. “If the voting isn’t fraudulent Nate is going to win without a doubt,” he says, and adds that he is “most looking forward to watching Nate win.” Joey is sticking with the classic school dance look this year, wearing khaki pants, a jacket, and a blue tie.
Next up is Ava Lambros. Ava “was happy to be nominated with all [her] friends and to represent the senior class, and just being able to have fun!” Similar to Leah, Ava is excited to walk with the rest of the court and can’t wait to see and celebrate who wins. Originally, Ava wasn’t too ecstatic about her parents having to be at the dance, but she thought “it’s nice to have them there and see all that goes on at the dance so they can remember the experience.” Ava is nervously hoping that the dress comes in the mail in time for the dance but plans on wearing a sage green one with gold jewelry and gold heels.
Varsity football captain Saras Gill is another one of our nominees in the running for “Fan Favorite.” Saras said he “100% thought [he] wouldn’t [get nominated],” but was very excited when he heard. As a member of the football team, he thinks they are definitely going to win tonight against Perryville, especially since Perryville hasn’t beaten Fallston since 2016. Saras is most looking forward to hanging out with his friends at the dance “and seeing them all spiffed up.”
Senior class secretary, and varsity field hockey captain, Harper Canatella is number seven of our ten nominees. Harper was really excited to be on court with one of her good friends, Ava Lambros, “just like [their] moms were in high school,” she explains. Although Harper thinks it would be awesome to win, she doesn’t believe she is going to because “Nate Decker is going to win.” With it being the last homecoming for seniors, Harper is just eager to have fun, especially since she helped pick out the theme. She says she is most excited about “getting announced for court and walking down the middle of the dance floor.” Although she is not thrilled about seeing her parents at the dance, she is used to seeing her mom at school events since Mrs. Canatella is a teacher here. Catch Harper in a light pink dress at the dance.
Jacob MacMillan is another one of the seniors in the running. While he does not play a fall sport, Jacob does play lacrosse, and just recently committed to Randolph Macon College to continue his athletic career. He thinks it’s super cool to be nominated, and is most excited about hanging out with friends, especially since a lot of them are on court with him. Many of our nominees share the same opinion about who they think is going to win, and Jacob does too. He says he “personally would love to see Nate win and [he] thinks [Nate] will win.” While Jacob does not care much about his parents being at the dance, he shares that it “will be strange.”
Grace Clark is our last girl nominated for fan favorite, and she was totally surprised by it, especially since she found out by her friends texting her because she was out of town when court was announced. Grace shares that “there are so many strong candidates that are involved,” and thinks, “everyone has a good shot at winning, but Saras is a ‘fan favorite.’” Grace is most excited about the pep rally and the football game leading up to the dance because she “love[s] seeing all the school spirit,” and thinks it will be a great experience to walk with the other court members at half time. Grace’s parents are involved in the community, so she is used to seeing them at events, but still thinks it will be interesting having them there.
Last, but certainly not least, Nate Decker. Nate was not very shocked when he heard his name get announced because a lot of people told him they voted for him and were sending him pictures of them voting for him. “Yes, I think I am going to win,” he says, “but Saras and Abby have a good chance too,” he continues. It seems Nate is a big fan of corn hole and is most looking forward to playing it in the back gym at the dance, similar to spring formal last year. Nate doesn’t seem to be very prepared for the dance this weekend and shares how he doesn’t even have his outfit together yet but will probably wear a white shirt and a tie.
