Our very own Samantha Ruth, a junior at Fallston, is this year’s winner of the Judith Resnick Award that recognizes female students for their academic achievements in the fields of science and mathematics. The award honors Judith Resnick, an AAUW (American Association of University Women) member who was the second woman in space and who died in the Challenger shuttle explosion.

Ruth was very honored to have won this award and be surrounded by so many other women who shared the same interests as her. “It was a good experience [seeing] all the different women and how they have been an influence in the world and all their jobs and seeing how powerful they can be,” Ruth said.

Ruth says she plans to “use [her] knowledge that [she] gained from all the important and hard-working women at the ceremony” to fulfill her passion for mechanical engineering. She also hopes to go to “UD or UMD and [she hopes] to work at the Pif lab at the APG part of the army.”

Congratulations Sam on your accomplishment and we look forward to seeing more of what you do!
