Looking back at 2024, we have witnessed the rise of new trends as well as the downfalls of old ones. Coming into the new year, it’s only natural that we should be expecting even more trends to appear throughout the year. While no one can say for sure what the Ins and Outs of 2025 will be, here are the top four trends we hope to see and others we hope will come to an end.
Ins:
Project Pan

If you’re like me and always are buying new makeup products or skincare, this is a trend you should check out. Although Project Pan has been trending on Tik Tok for the past couple of months, this is one I hope to see others bringing into 2025. Although many assume that Project Pan is throwing away old products, it actually focuses on using the products you already have and not buying new ones until you run out. For example, not buying new lip-gloss until you run out of the ones you already have.
Project Pan allows you to declutter your space at your own pace. You can divide it into different categories like makeup, hair care, skincare, and more. Not only does Project Pan help you declutter, but at the same time you reduce waste, save money, and make more sustainable choices.
Going to Malls
With malls closing and everyone switching to online shopping, is it too late for malls to make a comeback? Louis and I say never. Malls are an easy place to gather with your friends, go shopping, go out to eat and maybe even meet someone new. There’s a store to fit all your friends’ needs and interests! So why did we ever stop? Malls are so convenient, being filled with a variety of stores as well as a food court to grab a bite after a long day of shopping. Malls are filled with entertainment like browsing, window shopping, or just exploring different stores and displays.

Low Rise Everything
Low-Rise Jeans, Low-Rise Leggings, Low-Rise Flare Pants, Low-Rise Sweats, everything Low-Rise is a definite Yes! Not only do Low-Rise Pants look better, accentuating the hips and creating an elongated torso look, but they are also way more comfortable! Since Low- Rise Pants sit below the waist, they don’t compress the stomach area. They also offer more freedom of movement compared to higher-waist alternatives. As I mentioned before, there are many kinds of Low- Rise Pants, so you can find the perfect pair for you!
Let’s bring back nostalgia and Fashion in the new year! I hope to see these becoming a staple in everyone’s closets this year.

Digital Camera Photos

While others may not agree with this, I personally think digital camera photos look a lot better than ones on the typical iPhone. The digital cameras sensor sizes allow it to capture the light and detail that the iPhone lacks. Not only do digital camera photos look better in general, but they make your social media platforms appear more professional.
Although carrying a camera around may seem annoying, the photos make it all worth it. The abilities of a digital camera are endless, offering a greater range of settings and manual controls, and they allow you to achieve specific looks that are harder to replicate with a phone. If you’re looking for a set aesthetic on your Instagram, a digital camera may complete the look you’re going for and achieve specific looks that are harder to replicate with a phone.
Outs:
Posting Snapchat Streaks
In the big 2025, posting Snapchat streaks on your public story has officially become a relic of the past. People who post a snap streak along with a long paragraph of meaningful text might as well have just texted whatever was said to the person it was directed to. Instead of announcing your 2397 streak with your best friend since 2nd grade while saying how much you appreciate them, you can directly text them telling them how much you love them. In 2025, we will prioritize authentic connections instead of superficial achievements.

Bad Posture
Seeing yourself hunched over in somebody else’s background has to be one of the most humbling things you can experience. At least once a day I gain consciousness of my posture and immediately sit straight up, making sure no one else saw my hunchback, and in 2025, this has got to go. Whether we realize it or not, good posture will support you as you get older, preventing aches and pains in your neck, back, and shoulders.

Microtrends
In the past few years there has been an increasing number of microtrends flashing in and out of existence. Clothing pieces such as Brazil t-shirts, animal prints, and chunky belts have always been microtrends, making a comeback from time to time and then disappearing from the spotlight. So many people have wasted money on items that are trending just for them to go out of style and never be worn again. Everyone is always so quick to jump on the bandwagon and worry about what’s going to be the next “big thing” instead of discovering what fits their own personal desires and likes.

Millennial Gray Homes
Seriously? I understand that you want to renovate your house but why not just buy a house that is more similar to your aesthetic rather than strip down a house with character and details deemed timeless? Every time I come across a video about a house transformation and see a beautiful home with vibrant colors and details, then see it transform into this solid wash of grey, I’m filled with disappointment and something inside me dies. It’s depressing to see houses with unique architecture and history erased of their character and feel which made those houses special in the first place.
