Girls Who Code, the newest addition to Fallston High School’s impressive club list, has only just started but is already massively supported. Coders and those who hope to learn have joined co-presidents Addison Rebasti and Natalie Ellerman and showed up to every meeting the club has had so far.

When asked why she began Girls Who Code, Rebasti explained how she took AP Computer Science as a freshman and wanted to continue learning about coding.

Meeting every other Tuesday in Ms. Canatella’s room, the club has yet to code, but members have set up accounts on “Scratch,” a coding website, and have plans to start coding very soon. However, beginning coding is not the only plans the co-presidents have. “We plan on attending a coding competition in the spring, so, in the meantime, we will be busy mastering coding,” Ellerman said.

Junior Addison McEvoy joined the club, and through her passion for coding, quickly became the vice president. “There’s a lot of relationships I have made while being there. For example, the sisterhood activities helped me get to know new people and we have a lot of fun,” she said.

Unlike many other clubs, the new group has had no trouble creating a community. From the free merchandise the organization sent members to the games they play every meeting, they have all become a sort of family. However, they are always welcoming more members! “Come join Girls Who Code! We have snacks and play games every meeting,” Ellerman said.
