Scrolling through TikTok, I can’t help but notice countless influencers posting videos thanking Beyoncé for random aspects of their day, like getting good sleep or having a good hair day. Like many, I wanted to know why suddenly everyone on TikTok was thanking her. After deep diving into countless articles, TikToks, and more, here is some information I have found to explain this phenomenon.
The Lore
Following P Diddy’s recent arrest, a conspiracy theory has come to light that Beyoncé, Jay-Z (her husband), and Diddy have killed multiple singers. Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was arrested on September 16, 2024, and charged with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and forced labor. Combs has been known for hosting infamous parties that included countless illegal activities. People are claiming that Beyoncé and her husband, Jay-Z, were aware of these and may have even participated in them.
The alleged reason for these “murders” was to stop new artists who were quickly rising in popularity from taking Beyoncé’s place as “queen bee” of the music industry. As to why people believe this, many have claimed the song “She Knows” by J. Cole, Cults, and Amber Coffman is about Beyoncé. It has been theorized that the lyrics “Rest in peace to Aaliyah, rest in peace to Left Eye (Left Eye), Michael Jackson, I’ll see ya just as soon as I die (I die)” point to Beyoncé being responsible for the tragic deaths of these singers. What is dragging fans to believe this is that all three singers suddenly died on the 25th of a month. Coincidentally, all these singers also quickly gained popularity and won multiple music awards without thanking Beyoncé in their acceptance speeches.
Many artists have more recently been seen thanking Beyoncé after winning Grammys and other awards. This has made people believe musicians are only doing this to stay alive and keep their position in the music industry.
After Lizzo won the Grammy for Best Pop Solo Performance in 2020, she was quick to thank Beyoncé in her speech. Lizzo claimed Beyoncé changed her life and inspired her to make music so people could feel the way she did when she listened to Beyoncé’s music. She referred to Beyoncé as the “artist of our lives.” Adele also shared a similar sentiment when she cried while thanking Beyoncé after winning a Grammy for Album of the Year back in 2017. Not only are artists directly thanking Beyoncé, but people suspect that Kanye West interrupting Taylor Swift’s speech at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2009 was all to protect her from Beyoncé.
The Truth
It is important to know that this is only a conspiracy theory and nothing including Beyoncé has been proven true. This is all just a rabbit hole on TikTok that has quickly spread to other social media sites. To end this, I’d like to thank Beyoncé for inspiring me to write this article.
