It’s the end of an era…
After 5 continents; 10 eras; 18 records broken; 19 special guests; 51 cities; 152 “22” hats given out; 152 shows; 304 surprise songs; 2,432 outfit changes; 31,920 minutes of singing; 10 million fans; 11.02 million tickets sold; and $2.633 billion in revenue, the Eras tour has finally come to an end.
Sunday, December 8, 2024, at 11:15 PST, we witnessed the end of an era. Taylor Swift took her final bow of the Eras tour. March 17, 2023, was the first time Taylor stepped on stage for her tour, and it took the world by storm.

There were more than 10 million fans who attended her tour, ranging from 8 years old to 88 years old. Some go to this school and may even sit next to us in class. Taylor Glascock, a junior at Fallston High, is one of the biggest fans of Taylor Swift. She has always been a fan of Swift; one of her earliest memories of listening to her music was when she was three years old driving to her grandparents’ house. Her and her mother “listened to [their] Fearless CD on repeat.”
She carried her love for Swift throughout the years. When she heard that the Eras tour was coming out, she knew it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Many people only go to the concert once, but Taylor was fortunate enough to go two times, the first on May 14, 2023 (Mother’s Day), and the second on October 19, 2024. She said that the two shows were similar but also different.
“It was so cool to experience the Eras Tour original set list versus the one including The Tortured Poets Department album,” Taylor explained. When Swift released TTPD, it didn’t take long before she started incorporating those songs into her tour. In an interview with Vogue, Swift described the album saying that “the story isn’t [hers] anymore…it’s all [ours].”

Not only was she creating new music, but she was also developing new relationships in her life. In September 2023, she was spotted cheering for Travis Kelce at one of his football games with the Chiefs, and that is when their relationship began. Not only was she cheering him on, but he came to many of her concerts and was seen rocking out to her music. She even invited him up on stage to join her when singing “I Can Do It with A Broken Heart.” While on the tour he participated in many of the trends that the fans and Swift created.
There were a ton of trends that the Swifties created. The first was when fans were making and swapping friendship bracelets during the concert. This was to show a representation of “girlhood,” and even some of the guys joined in. Fans also dressed as some of the album eras that Swift created; they chose the ones they felt represented them the most.
Finally, many fans made it a trend of finding out who would receive the next “22” hat that Taylor gave out. These hats are given out to one Swiftie each night of the concert, and it is given to either a person that is chosen by Swift herself or to a die-hard Swiftie in the audience. This was always a fun game to play before each concert.
Taylor Swift has made a big impact on kids and adults for over 20 years, and her music will be played for years to come from our children and even their children. This may be the end of her touring for a while, but she still has more to come for her music career.
Like she says in the song “Long Live,” “It was the end of an era… but the start of an age.”
