The Cougar Field Hockey Team traveled to Glen Burnie High School on November 8th to participate in the State Tournament Semifinals. They faced Pocomoke and unfortunately did not come home with the results they wanted, losing a tough game 3-0.

The spirits were high going into the game.  The Cougars came out fighting. Unfortunately, five minutes into the game, Pocomoke scored their first goal off a corner. However, Fallston did not give up as they kept the ball mostly in the middle of the field for the rest of the quarter.

Going into the second quarter, the Cougars played a tough defense, with Senior Goalie Kyleigh O’Mailey making five saves. But unfortunately, the Warriors struck again, scoring another goal eight minutes into the quarter, making the score 2-0.

After half time, the Cougars gained momentum with 7 shots in the third quarter, but none of them could find the back of the goal. The Warriors then scored the third and final goal of the game.

Going into the fourth quarter, the Cougars stepped it up on defense, led by Senior Captains Riley Cloude and Hailey Meyer, letting up no goals. They played their hearts out and left it all on the field.

Although the outcome wasn’t what they were hoping for, they still had a great season, ending with a record of 8-6. Senior Captain Riley Cloude says, “This was a very exciting year for us. It was the first time making it past state quarterfinals in my high school career and for Cummings as a coach.”

Coach Cummings was extremely proud of the team saying, “Our season was what I call a roller coaster! We had our ups and downs, but we were able to come together as a team and finish together at the State Semi Finals!”
