Summer House is back, and it’s going to be BIG. The hit reality show, premiering on Thursday, February 22nd, will take place in the Hamptons per usual and will be the show to watch this year, based on one very important factor: Lindsay and Carl’s breakup. The couple, who has been together since January 2022, broke off their engagement after the summer of 2023. While they have seen coverage from articles and BravoCon, this season will be showing the live footage from the breakup which fans can’t wait to see.

The trailer, which dropped in mid-January, starts by showing clips from the Carl-Lindsay breakup. The filming has been very controversial as Lindsay stans have used it as ammo for their fight against Carl. Lindsay told Us Weekly that the filmed breakup was “absolutely humiliating” and that the fact that he called producers to film it was “scary.” This caused a major surge of support for Hubbard and left Radke looking like the villain.

However, throughout their relationship, it was clear that Carl was a punching bag for Lindsay. One of their most notable fights from season 7 was over the feud between Lindsay and her former best friend Danielle Olivera. The trio had once been called the “Three Amigos,” but after a fallout between the girls, the group was left completely broken.

The feud seemed to have started when Danielle and her long-term boyfriend, Robert Sieber, broke up and she felt that Lindsay hadn’t been as supportive of her as she had been for Lindsay in the past. “Maybe most of our friendship was about me helping her and that’s why it went so well,” Danielle told ET Online.

Carl, who was able to patch things up between himself and Olivera, tried to reunite the pair and was the middleman for the two girls, but unfortunately, Lindsay was not happy and felt that Carl wasn’t being supportive of her side. This resulted in a large blowout fight between the couple that brought up some deeper-rooted issues of their relationship.

In season 2 of Winter House, Lindsay and Carl made an appearance where Lindsay revealed she has given up drinking for her newly sober boyfriend. However, it was made clear in the first few minutes of Summer House season 7 that this was no longer the case. Once the fight occurred, Carl was shown in a confessional saying, “Since Lindsay’s been drinking, I’ve just been struggling to navigate it.” He also highlighted that he understood that the alcohol consumed by Hubbard had made a large contribution to her explosive state during the fight and they would be able to work through it more efficiently the next morning.

While the couple was able to patch their fight up shortly, it was abundantly clear that their relationship was very dysfunctional. But, despite the troubles of the season, the summer ended with a Radke-Hubbard engagement, much to the surprise and dismay of the rest of the cast. Because of this, Carl and Lindsay left their own engagement party in a huff at the end of season 7.

However, though most of the women have found Lindsay to be manipulative and self-centered through the 7 seasons of the show, the women have rallied behind Lindsay in the breakup which only raises more questions about the relationship. Are the women hiding their true opinion?

Personally, I’m team Carl in the situation. Lindsay has been the cause of every breakup we’ve seen on the show. I mean, everyone remembers the explosive breakup with Stravy when Lindsay’s “slogan” was “When was the last time you made a sandwich for me?” I simply cannot see any situation where sober, even-tempered Carl, is the villain of the situation. Lindsay has always been hot-headed and constantly picks fights and plays the victim. Season 8 will definitely be an interesting one as we will watch the downfall of the couple playout throughout the summer.
