Forget haunted houses – nothing is scarier than a parade of Pinterest moms with decorated mini vans handing out organic, gluten free, low carb, vegan, sugar free candy that tastes like cardboard. But why do parents insist on sanitizing Halloween and ruining their kids’ childhoods?
After 45 minutes in the abandoned mall parking lot and $150 worth of Bluey decorations, the season of Halloween comes to an end. While there are exceptions, most parents substitute Trick-or-Treating for Trunk-or-Treating for reasons such as convenience and many other lame excuses.
Current studies have shown that 84% of kids who participated in Trunk-or-Treat have grown up to fear doorbells. This new behavior is a direct result of helicopter parents and their fear of giving their kids a taste of fun.
Not to mention the neighbors that spend $20-30 on bags of candy for your children who plan on staying in. When neighborhood’s favorite, Mr. Walter, is found dead in his house due to extreme high-blood sugar – we’ll know why. It is because you were too worried about showing off to your Facebook friends and killed the neighborhood spirit (literally).
What’s next, is Santa Claus going to leave unwrapped presents on the front porch? Is the easter bunny going to put unfilled eggs in baskets? Or is the tooth fairy going to collect kids’ money but leave them teeth? Magic for kids is dying, and it is only amplified by the laziness of parents.
