Trends that Should Be Left in 2023

Now that 2023 has come to an end, many people have been reflecting on the year and what came of it. 2023 was a year of new and unique trends, some better than others, so we compiled a list of trends that would be better left in 2023.

 Chamoy Pickle Kits

Chamoy pickle kits are DIY kits to create a tasty snack. What makes these so odd is that not only do you need to buy them from TikTok shop, but you are also paying more for ingredients being put together into a kit than you would for them separately. The pickle kit itself seems to have a very distinct flavor that only some people enjoy, which is unfortunate for those who spend their money on the kits just for them to not enjoy It. Supporting TikTok shop is also not the best idea, as it is similar to other brands that take advantage of child labor like Shein and Temu.

Lululemon

Lululemon is a luxury athletic clothing brand, with unaffordable prices for quality clothing. Unfortunately, the love for this brand has gotten out of hand. My very own 10-year-old cousin was asking me for Lululemon items for Christmas. No person should have to tell a young child that they cannot get $90 leggings because not only are they over-priced, but they will also grow out of them in a year.

Those Big Red Boots

Big red boots by Mschf have been widely accepted this year as a new fashion statement. However, these boots cost upwards of $450 per pair, which is a lot considering the boots are hardly functional. They are huge and look weird with most outfits, so why should they stick around? They should have never been a trend in the first place. I hope these boots find a grave to die in, and quickly.

Veneers

Recently celebrities have been spending thousands of dollars on a new set of teeth, which is not too bad if it is for medical reasons. However, most of them are doing it for fully cosmetic purposes. The dentists need to shave down your teeth to install veneers, which will permanently ruin your natural teeth. This would not be an issue if veneers were permanent, but they are not. They last for 10-15 years if maintained correctly, but there have been instances of celebrity veneers falling out, and it seems more struggle than it is worth.

Soap Brows

Soap Brows have grown more popular in the makeup world over the past year, but is that necessarily a good thing? While they have died down, they’ll never be forgotten, and some people are still doing them. The idea was good and the effort was there; however, it was blown out of proportion. When soap brows are done correctly, they can be very clean-looking and beautiful, but the problem comes when they’re not brushed down and sticking up to a person’s forehead. Let’s be real – that’s not a good look for ANYONE (yes, even you.) So in the new year, all we’re asking, for the love of God, take the next step and brush your eyebrows down and don’t leave your business unfinished. YOU CAN DO THIS!
